I have two other dresses just like this I was looking for a brown one already have black and green. This dress, on the top, is nearly see through.

Not so much in the front, but in the back oh yeah. I had to wear it with a sweater shrug, which I planned on doing anyway but its not optional with this dress.

I kept it because I can work with it. I would never order this again, especially the short sleeve ones – you have to have tights or a slip or something under this dress.

It fit nicely and was the perfect length for me to feel comfortable at the office and at church. I paired it with a thin belt and a light cardigan and got lots of compliments.

My hair is wet in this photo so disregard that. The dress is very soft and comfortable. I am 5″4′ and lbs. A size large fit well and came right below my knee.

I probably could have gotten a medium, but I needed a larger size so I could play cello in it. The fabric is thim, so do not wear a patterned bra with it.

This dress is made of see through material that is very thin.

While I don’t think it would fall apart, I did note that a similar color undergarment dark vs light color might be required on top.

The large fit was snug on top and the dress waist was higher than my natural waist almost an empire, but not that high. It sat at the knee or just above on me at 5’6″ – nice length.

Soft stretchy fabric. The scoop neck line was much lower than expected, but not “low cut”. I ordered black and purple and the fabrics – and possibly the fit – were a little different for each.

The black seemed thicker or less see through, but did have a sheen when stretched if that makes sense. Both dresses I ordered were a wrinkled mess when they arrived and I suspected that even after ironing it might end up wrinkled by days-end – however, I am sending them back so can’t confirm that.

Fabric was just too flimsy and it did not have a good drape. Not exactly fat but not fit or athletic. In the fitted part above the A-line waist, it shows every little bulge.

It has entirely too much fabric in the circumference of the sleeves all the way to the wrist. I would never want that design feature in general and it makes all this fabric just hang over my non-existent butt.

The fit is alright in the front. I like the soft material of this dress; it is comfortable and and the overall length is nice, it does not ride up in the back I got a bubble butt like many dresses I own.

I bought one in green and loved it so much bought it in blue as well.

I ordered a small in the green shade. It fit as expected, and I do enjoy the pockets, however the fabric is rather thin. You can see if the light hits just right, basically translucent.

I dressed it up with a belt and a blanket scarf. Cute and comfortable modest dress. It will be easy to dress up for the office with a cute cardi and long necklace.

Or dress it down with boots and a scarf. Material is a little thin so make sure to wear nude undergarments or a slip.

Milanoo had pretty good service, and it arrived exactly when they said it would. Unfortunately, it wasn’t as “finished” as I would have liked it to be.

When I first saw it, I thought it was perfect. Unfortunately, when I wore it out, buttons began falling off. I lost 3 buttons on the white undershirt, and nearly lost a rose button I caught it as I fell.

In summary, I would definitely buy from Milanoo again, but I would personally check to be sure all of the details are properly finished before wearing it out.

A few weeks ago I posted about layering underneath dresses.

The following guidelines are by no means hard and fast rules and I frequently see them being broken successfully by stylishly creative and daring ladies who understand how to balance out proportions.

Wearing a really short jacket over a fitted, fit-and-flare, A-line or sack dress is virtually flop proof. By cropped I mean that the length of the jacket hits you on or above your natural waistline.

Think of cheeky styles like shrunken blazers, biker jackets, Chanel jackets, boleros, short tuxedo jackets and denim jackets.

Extra short retro trapeze jackets and faux fur shrugs work well too. The length of the dress can be either a little below the knee, on the knee, or shorter.

Keeping the jacket un-buttoned or un-zipped creates a vertical line down the front of the body, which is very flattering.

A classic blazer layered over a fitted knee length sheath dress is ideal for a formal, reasonably conservative, professional work setting. Scrunch up the sleeves for textural outfit interest.

Shorter wool coats and trenches can work too, but they never seem to look quite as good as when the coats are as long as the dresses themselves.

To my eye anyway.

I was amused by the jean jacket pictured with its frayed bottom and am tempted to just cut off the bottom of a too-long jean jacket.

Maybe that look is best left to younger women. Fat chance.

I have probably the worst combination of proportions to accomplish this look successfully. Big bust, freakishly short waist, and petite all at once.

All of my jackets except my denim jacket are hip length. Having a large bust OR a short waist would probably be easier, but having both is the kiss of death.

I am going to really enjoy this series. Having the visuals helps a lot too. Great post. Finding that sweet spot is tricky, but these photos illustrate the magic that happens when you hit it.

Although I have 6ft clients who look great with cropped jackets layered over dresses. They look really good layering longer blazers over dresses too.

But I really love the middle picture with the very nipped and buttoned blazer.

I might also experiment with belting a blazer over a dress, what do you think about that? I just overall feel better with some waist definition, I find it balances me out better.

What do we think about belting an unbuttoned jacket the way many people do with cardigans? I have rather bad luck with jackets and have a couple that pull a little when buttoned, yet when open they flap around unflatteringly and make me look like I have a giant thick torso.

But big jackets make me feel shapeless and I think I look like a little girl lost in oversized clothes. I really want to do this layering thing with the jackets, but not sure how best to pull it off with my body shape.

What do you think? I am interested to see what you recommend when you get to cardigans over dresses.
